Discover Asian Vegan Bistro

If you're in Bakersfield and craving a unique dining experience, the Asian Vegan Bistro on 2217 Ashe Rd offers a fresh twist on traditional Asian flavors. This cozy spot stands out as a haven for plant-based eaters, proving that vegan cuisine can be as bold and exciting as any meat-based dishes. Whether you're vegan or just looking to try something new, the menu here promises a delicious adventure.

The moment you step into this bistro, you’re welcomed by an inviting atmosphere that's both casual and chic. The staff is friendly and eager to guide you through the diverse menu, which features a blend of classic Asian dishes reimagined with a vegan touch. From savory stir-fries to comforting noodle bowls, everything is prepared with fresh, plant-based ingredients.

One of the standout dishes is their vegan "General Tso’s Chicken" - a crowd favorite that mimics the rich, crispy texture of traditional General Tso’s, but with tofu that's perfectly fried to a golden crisp. The sauce, a balance of sweet and spicy, packs just the right punch without overwhelming your taste buds. It's an example of how the bistro successfully captures the essence of Asian comfort food while making it accessible to those following a vegan lifestyle.

Another must-try is their vegan sushi rolls. The sushi rolls are rolled with rice, seaweed, and an array of plant-based ingredients like avocado, cucumber, and pickled radish. The flavors are clean, fresh, and expertly combined, offering a delightful contrast to the rich sauces they come with. The miso soup, served alongside, complements the sushi perfectly, giving you a warm, soothing start to your meal.

While the Asian Vegan Bistro has a reputation for its savory dishes, don’t overlook their dessert options. The coconut milk-based ice cream, offered in flavors like mango and matcha, is a refreshing treat that satisfies any sweet tooth without being overly sugary. It’s a light way to end your meal on a high note, leaving you feeling satisfied but not stuffed.

The location at 2217 Ashe Rd is easy to find, with plenty of parking nearby. If you’re looking for a place to unwind after a busy day, or if you're planning a casual dinner with friends, this bistro is perfect. It’s become a local favorite not only for vegans but also for anyone who appreciates good food that’s kind to both the palate and the planet.

For those concerned about the environmental impact of their meals, the Asian Vegan Bistro prides itself on its sustainability efforts. The restaurant uses eco-friendly packaging for takeout and ensures that all its ingredients are ethically sourced, supporting local farmers and reducing its carbon footprint.

If you're unsure of where to start, the bistro’s staff is always happy to help. They’re well-versed in the menu and can recommend dishes based on your preferences. Whether you're a fan of spicy foods or you prefer something milder, there's something for everyone here.

With a growing demand for plant-based dining options, the Asian Vegan Bistro serves as a beacon for both seasoned vegans and newcomers to plant-based eating. Its blend of traditional flavors and modern vegan twists ensures that every meal is an experience worth having. If you're in the area, it’s definitely worth checking out - whether you’re a lifelong vegan or simply curious to see how Asian cuisine translates to plant-based eating.

  • Very nice spot, took my non-vegan relatives and we all loved the food. It was delicious, well seasoned and had a cute presentation. Service was also amazing, food was delivered quickly and the lady was very kind to us.

  • I cannot deny, the food was great. However, if I pay $27, for two bowls of soup, I would like it to be worth it. In two bowls of soup, I received nine (9), pieces of small cut Tofu. That is nine piece in total, not in each. When I called, I was told that's all we give. So with an odd number of Tofu, for two people, does one get the extra or do we cut it in half? Come on Asian Vegan Bistro, you get 18 large sized chunks of Tofu out of a pack that cost you at a maximum $3.00. Quit being stingy. The decor and atmosphere were great. Do I recommend this place, tentatively yes. Their food is great, just skimpy. As I said before, the food is great. This time, I dined in, no take out. The atmosphere is totally Asian and wonderful. My server was an absolute doll. Super quite, so I missed her name, but she was excellent. I still did not like my take out experience, but I highly recommend dining in at the Asian Vegan Bistro.

  • I was visiting Bakersfield for a few days, and found this Gem! The Tofu Katsu was fresh and delicious. My sides were cream cheese wontons, tempura vegetables, and spring rolls. My meal could have been for two people. If your visiting or passing through town hungry. This is the spot!!! Thank you for the delicious meal!!

  • Asian Vegan Bistro is hands down one of Bakersfield’s hidden gems. The magic here is that literally everything on the menu is vegan—and it spans the best of Asian cuisine: Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, and Korean. You don’t have to pick and choose—you get it all in one spot. I’ve brought my partner, family, friends, and even acquaintances here, and every single one of them walked away impressed. My youngest sister and I especially love it—it’s become one of our favorite go-to’s. • The Soy Beef with Broccoli & Mushrooms is hearty, flavorful, and feels just like a classic stir-fry. • Their Vegan Chow Mein is comfort in a bowl—noodles pan-fried perfectly with plant-based protein. • The Crispy Tofu Tempura with Rice & Broccoli is golden and light, with that perfect crunch. • And the Yakisoba / Pad See Eaw noodles are simple, veggie-packed, and satisfying. The portions are generous, the flavors are on point, and it’s such a rare treat to find a place where you can explore multiple Asian cuisines 100% plant-based. Highly recommended for vegans, vegetarians, or honestly anyone who enjoys delicious food.

  • Please come support this small vegan business, the food is good and there’s plenty of options!!! I got the pad see ew, avocado and cucumber roll, and gyoza. Everything is fairly priced and you won’t regret it!

  • A vegan paradise!! Can’t wait to go back and try everything else. Got the teriyaki “chicken”, ”tuna” roll, and “beef” chow mein. Everything was delicious. The prices are great. The service was great. Place definitely needs an upgrade and love inside but it’s just a treat.

  • This is my favorite place to eat in Bakersfield. The flavor and preparation of the food could impress even meet eaters. They have Chinese, Japanese & Thai food. It's a family business and would love to see it stick around.
